Assembly
When mounting radial shaft seals, please note the following:- edges and surface of the housing bore hole must be smooth
- seal must be lubricated prior to assembly
- shaft seal must not be shed
- running surface of the shaft must be free from bumps, scratches, cracks, rust or bangs
- edge of the shaft through which the seal is placed must, be skimmed and smooth.
Maintenance
Check the condition of radial shaft seals in routine and unplanned machine inspections. When you notice the first signs of wear or poor sealing, you need to replace them. These signs are identified by the traces that the seal leaves on the shaft or after leaking the lubricant. The lubricant only shows the bad seal. Dark-coloured lubricants and dirty or dense liquid oil indicate impurities in the bearing position and, consequently, to seizure or otherwise damage one or more seals.Trade
In the case of repairs, the radial shaft seal must always be replaced with a new one. The sealing edge of the new seal should not be placed on the tread pattern of the old seal. Speedi sleeve bushings have an extremely thin wall and allow the use of genuine original seals. They are made of high quality stainless steel. The running surface is smoothly machined and several times better than the original running surface of the shaft.

Changing the seal must not be completed by replacing it with a new seal of the same design. You need to find out the reasons for the failure of the seal. Possible causes may be:

- different lubricant with modified additives
- seal made from the wrong material
