Rebuilding of working spindles

What are the most common types of working spindles?

Trapezoidal spindles are probably the most traditional, simple and inexpensive way of converting the circular motion into a straight line. Trapezoidal spindles are used for wedges, clamps and as an effective alternative to casing mechanisms or a cheap alternative to ball spindles. Trapezoidal spindles have a standardised diameter and are mostly made of steel.

Another, more expensive spindle type, are ball spindles. These are used everywhere where we want to turn the rotary movement into a straight line, and where, due to the gear in the thread, we also talk about the reduction of the force required to move the load. The torque of this product is one third of the torque of the conventional sliding spindle or even less, so the ball spindle is the most appropriate option if we want to save the drive power of the engine, we also use them in machine construction to precisely position the machine parts.

How do the spindles wear out?

Regardless of the durability of the material from which the spindle is made, and regardless of the exact and required technology used in its manufacture, the spindle eventually wears out. When the spindle, after a certain number of working hours and after a large number of revolutions, or long-term operation under high installations, exceeds its useful functionality, it no longer serves its purpose. At the opposite: the worn spindle seriously disturbs the machine's performance, slows down and lowers productivity. It is time to replace the spindle.

What to do?

There are two options available:
  • you can choose to buy a new working spindle
  • to rebuild the worn working spindle.
As a rule, the cost of rebuilding the working spindles is usually 30-50% of the value of a new spindle. Would you prefer to opt for the second option, but you are in doubt that your working spindle will not be quality rebuilt, that it will not be rebuilt according to the regulations and standards that apply to the production of a new working spindle, you may also be concerned that the rebuilt working spindle will not last as long as the new spindle would? Are we right?

We are aware of all the concerns, worries and needs of our clients. That is why we thought about everything; but especially you. Since we want to offer only the best and we know that affordability is as important as a quality service, we only work with the best in rebuilding the working spindle. Nowadays, purchasing a new spindle is certainly not the best solution. Not when you have us. We have been cooperating with SKF for years and share tradition and experience in the highest quality and complete renewal of worn-out working spindles. The rebuilt is carried out only at the specialised European service centres of SKF.

We offer you the best solution because we value you and know that we are the best. Contact us today, we will be happy to help you.
